Honor Association Induction Ceremony
The second annual Christian Honor Student Association (CHSA) Induction Ceremony for the ORU eAcademy was held this year on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Each participant connected to the Internet from his or her own computer to make this online virtual ceremony a reality.
The Christian Honor Student Association is sponsored by ORUef, and students are required to meet high standards to become a member. Students must be in 10th-12th grade, enrolled with the ORU eAcademy for at least one semester, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. In addition, the students must meet a minimum score as assigned by their eAcademy teachers regarding character, leadership, and scholarship. An outside source recommendation is also required from pastors and other leaders regarding the student's service in his/her church or community.
We were pleased to induct new member Katherine Williams into the ORU eAcademy Christian Honor Student Association. She joins fellow members (and current CHSA officers) Mark Miller serving as President, Tedi Velo serving as Vice-President and Katherine Korpi serving as Secretary/Treasurer.
The induction ceremony began with a few words from our Superintendent, Dr. Kim Boyd, followed by an explanation of the requirements for membership by Head Administrator, Mrs. Gail Marten. Mrs. Janet Spear, CHSA Head Sponsor, introduced Katherine. Mrs. Rachel Keeney and Mrs. Trudy Brock (ORU eAcademy teachers) and the current CHSA officers each read descriptions of the pledge. Mrs. Georgia Taylor then led all the members in reading the pledge. Mrs. Marten read Katherine's biography, and the ceremony concluded with Katherine's sharing her testimony about how God had worked in her life to help her overcome many obstacles to achieve this honor.
All the members will be working together on a CHSA service project to benefit the ORU eAcademy. Congratulations, Katherine!
